Your questions answered
Family Mediation is a registered charity with a simple aim - "to help reduce family conflict".
What venues are available?..
Appointments can be arranged at our offices in Worcester , Kidderminster and Redditch . Evening mediation appointments are only available in Worcester. How to find us...

Is it confidential?...
All discussions are treated in complete confidence and we do not tell anyone what you have said during mediation. However you must be aware that if allegations of serious harm to a child are made, mediators have an obligation to report these to the appropriate agency.
- TOP - Must I attend?...
You will be required to attend an initial assessment meeting to find out whether mediation is appropriate to you and to assess your eligibility for public funding. Mediation itself is entirely voluntary.
- TOP - What does it cost?...
If you are eligible for public funding, mediation is normally free. If you are not eligible you may qualify for reduced cost mediation on a sliding scale of charges. To be considered for free or reduced cost mediation you must complete a financial assessment with the mediator at the initial assessment meeting.
- TOP - What about courts?...
We are independent of the Courts and what is discussed in mediation is legally privileged. If the Court has adjourned proceedings to give you time to attend mediation we are required to let them know how it has worked out - but we only ever tell them whether any matters have been agreed or remain in dispute.
- TOP - Do you offer legal advice?
The mediation service does not provide legal advice . This can be obtained from a solicitor of your choice. A directory of solicitors dealing with family work can be found here
- TOP - I'm concerned about safety..
If you are concerned about your own safety, the safety of a child, or if you have experienced violence or intimidation in the past, please do discuss this with the mediator at your first appointment. If mediation is felt to be appropriate, we are able to provide special arrangements for appointments, such as separate arrival and departure times and separate waiting areas. However it may be the decision of the mediator to deem that mediation is inappropriate for these circumstances.
- TOP - Do you cater for special needs?..
If you have any special needs such as wheelchair access or an interpreter or signer, pleae let us know so that we can make suitable arranagements.

I need to cancel my appointment..
Missed appointments and those cancelled at the last moment are very costly to our organisation, particularly when we are not given enough time to offer the appointment to someone else.
